This Week In Tennis  July 26 - August 1

Tennis Only” Camp…A Great Success!
The tennis only camp held the week of July 19th-23rd, turned out to be a fantastic week.  Despite grueling heat and humidity, 15 juniors ages 6-14 played their hearts out from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each day.  Juniors learned rules, etiquette, sportsmanship, fundamentals, and most importantly had a great time.  Tim, Drew, and I would like to thank everyone for coming out and making the week special.  We look forward to seeing everyone again real soon.

Highland’s Junior Team To Take On Raleigh!
The Highland Country Club junior team will have a match with the N.C. State Faculty Club juniors sometime in early August.  After having a good time on a trip to Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington, we will now look forward to our next inter club match.  The date and time is expected to be posted next week.

French Open Segment Of Highland Grand Slam To Begin!
With the Australian Open segment of the Highland Grand Slam now in our rear view mirror, it is time to move on to the French Open segment. Thanks to those of you who attended the kick-off party, and gave us some very valuable feedback.  Once our new assistant pro is in place, we will look to start the next session and plan to contact players to see who is ready to get back at it.  The major difference this time is the addition of singles, and mixed doubles, and your choice to now choose which division, or combination of divisions you’d like to play in (sounds confusing. but it’s not).  We will be contacting players to explain in more detail.

Babolat Line In!
After negotiations with Babolat to be Fayetteville’s ultimate purveyors of the Babolat line, we are now excited to announce that the rest of our initial order of product is now in.  We are thrilled to introduce the Babolat line of tennis racquets, strings, bags, shoes, over grips etc. to Highland.  We are very excited, as Babolat is an extremely popular brand right now for both juniors and adults.  Look for some great opening prices as we look to establish ourselves as one of the premier Babolat vendors in the region.   We will have a nice selection of demos for everyone to try, and hope to have an event where we can showcase many of the items available.

Session II  Junior Tennis Clinics Completed.
Our Session II junior clinics have now completed their six-week run. Our six-week pre-registration sessions will begin again in September.

Monday Ladies Clinic Offered On Monday!
Monday morning clinic is now offered from 9:30-10:30. The price remains the same at $8/person.  Learn new strokes, improve upon your existing strokes, work on strategy, and participate in some fun, challenging games.  Please contact the pro shop ahead of time if you plan to come out, as it helps us plan our agenda.  There will be no clinic the week of  July 19th due to a summer tennis camp.

Tennis 101 Adult Beginners Clinic Offered On Wednesdays
For those men and women out there that would like to get started playing tennis, we proudly offer a Wednesday morning Tennis 101 beginner clinic from 10:30-11:30.  This is an introductory class where we go over basic principles of tennis such as the correct grip, scoring, and rules.   The first session is free and players receive a complimentary box lunch.  This is an opportunity for beginners who would like to come out and get started in the great sport of tennis… but need a little nudging.  After the first session, your name will be placed in a special group e-mail and you will be contacted Friday of each week for the upcoming session.  Clinic price is $8 per person. Anyone interested in coming out must RSVP first.

That’s all for now…

We look forward to seeing everyone on the court!  (Wear the hats and sunscreen)
